Our Special Collection this week is for The Black & Indian Missions

Parish News

Lenten Activities • Every Friday of Lent from 5:15p to 5:45p, Father will pray the Stations of the Cross in the Church. The Stations recall our Lord’s Passion from His condemnation by Pilate on Holy Thursday to His death on Mount Calvary and His burial in the Potter’s Field. This traditional devotion is a good way to set the stage for our other Lenten activities. Each Tuesday from February 16 through March 15, Father will hear confessions in the Church from 5p until 6p.

Father Stephen Departs for India Today • After his Masses today, Father Stephen will depart for India for several weeks. He will be visiting with the brothers of his order, with his religious superior and catching up with friends and family. Father will be gone from Feb 28 until March 16. Please pray that he might have safe travels and a blessed time of homecoming!

St. Vincent de Paul • Immaculate is incredibly blessed to have a devoted group of our laity who have an interest in the works of Mercy and in serving our Lord by serving our poor and needy here in the Natchitoches area. These “Vincentians” as they are called are members of the Society of St. Vincent de Paul - a French priest and true spiritual master. The Society meets with those in need and, on a case-by-case basis, assists them. Speak with Mrs. Carrol Green for more information, she can be reached via the office.

24 Hours for the Lord • Pope Francis has asked Bishops throughout the world to encourage Eucharistic Adoration during this Year of Mercy particularly by establishing “24 Hours for the Lord.” Bp. Herzog has asked the Minor Basilica to assist to the best of our ability on the First Friday and Saturday of March. And so, on Friday, March 4, we will have our usual morning Mass followed by Adoration of the Most Blessed Sacrament throughout the day with Benediction and Stations at 5:15p. Then, on Saturday, March 5, we will have our usual First Saturday Mass and Benediction, but the Lord will remain exposed in the Church until just prior to the 4p Mass. Sign up sheets will be placed on the back tables of the Church. Please make every effort to signup for a block or two of time before our Lord. We are one of only two pilgrimage Churches in our Diocese and so we need to step up and help Bp. Herzog fulfill this desire of Pope Francis in this Year of Mercy. God Reward You!

Wednesday Night Catechism • This Wed, Mar 2 at 6pm Fr. Ryan will speak about the Blessed Virgin Mary’s appearance at Fatima and the powerful spiritual teachings of those visitations. It is from the apparitions at Fatima that we get the devotion to First Saturdays and that grandmothers everywhere began to say “Offer it up!” Father will speak about the messages, the miracles - especially the miracle of the Sun - and the importance of continued devotion to the Blessed Virgin under the title Our Lady of Fatima. All are welcome and encouraged to attend!
